Nick & Katie | A Traditional Fall Wedding Celebration at Blackhawk Country Club | Madison, WI

Oh, where do I even start with these two?!? I first heard of Nick & Katie through Nick's mother, Kelly. Kelly & I are co-workers and have become close friends over the years so when she told me that her son was proposing to his high school sweetheart, I was beyond ecstatic for them! I met Katie at a coffee shop and was just so touched by her bubbly personality and big heart. Through countless stories, I knew that Nick & Katie were just made for each other, and I was so happy to be given the opportunity to be a part of their special day. From the very beginning, Nick & Katie ultimately wanted one thing for their day: forever. Yes, Katie was excited to start the planning process and add all of the personal details and touches, but most importantly, she stressed how important it was to share their day with their closest friends and family, those who know them best and have witnessed their love story blossom over the years.

Nick & Katie's day truly was a family affair. When I arrived to Katie's parent's house, I was overcome with a feeling of emotion that I often long for, a feeling of being home. I got the chance to witness Katie get ready for her big day in her childhood home, a place that is so special to her. Katie opted to do a First Look with her father, which is something that I will never forget. Katie is the only girl among her siblings so it was obvious that she was and always will be daddy's little girl. The bond between those two was palpable. From there, Nick & Katie decided to do a First Look with each other at a secluded location at Graber Pond, a conservatory located just behind Nick's parent's house. Their ceremony took place at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton, a place that has held many memories as they both attended this church throughout their early years. The reception took place at Blackhawk Country Club, a beautiful setting nestled upon the shores of Lake Mendota. The space was filled with festive fall décor that was crafted by hand and heart from both families.  Throughout the night, I heard several stories of how individually, Nick & Katie are two of kindest souls. Together, they compliment each other in such a way that is an inspiration to those around them. Once again, it was obvious that family was such an integral part of their partnership.

Nick & Katie's day reminded me of how blessed we are to be given the opportunity to be a part of something truly amazing, something that I admit, I sometimes take for granted. After witnessing the union of two of the sweetest people and two beautiful families, my heart was overflowing with all of the emotion that was felt. There will never be enough words to fully describe that feeling, but all I can say is thank you. Thank you to all of the friends that came near and far to laugh, cry, dance, and celebrate with Nick & Katie. Thank you to the families who surrounded us with such kindness and opened their hearts and homes to us. Most importantly, thank you to Nick & Katie. Thank you for reminding us of the beauty of true love, a love story nine years in the making, and for sharing that story with us. We will be forever grateful for you!
